Well, it's time for yet another Disney trip. This time we'll have some extended family with us and be staying in a Grand Villa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. For the first couple days we're staying 'under the sea' in the Little Mermaid section of the Art of Animation resort. It was a lot cheaper to fly out on a Wednesday instead of Friday, so we added a couple days here. The rest of our group arrives tomorrow night.
Our flight was very uneventful. We didn't quite give ourselves enough time to get the airport, so that was a little stressful, but everything went smoothly. Zoe did much better on the airplane this time which was a relief. We arrived at the airport by about 2:30pm and were at the resort by 3:30pm. I'm really impressed by the Art of Animation resort. It has tons of great theming and nice rooms.
When we first arrived at the hotel, the kids got to try their hand at drawing Nemo.
In our section, the rooms our just standard hotel rooms (but very nice). The rest of the hotel consists of family suites complete with a small kitchenette and bunk beds.
We were fortunate to get connecting rooms so it works out very well to have 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. They also have mini refrigerators for drinks and leftover snacks. It still astonishes me how Disney does so well with all the details. I really do not like motels or similar resorts such as the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando. They feel cheap and uncomfortable. But this is done just right. And the theming around the resort is amazing!
Here are some pictures around the resort:
We had reserved Fastpasses for the main attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios tonight and made it here in plenty of time to go if we desired. But we decided to take it easy. We just ate dinner at Landscapes of Flavor and toured the grounds. The kids played at the play areas while Zoe and I returned to the room and I unpacked as she unwound in the bath.
